Bhubaneswar cops nab 2 Bihar criminals in midnight encounter, foil robbery plot

BHUBANESWAR: Two notorious criminals from Bihar’s Katihar district were shot and injured in police firing in Bhubaneswar’s Badagada police area on Thursday night.

Police identified the accused as Sonu Kumar Yadav and Manish Kumar Yadav . “The accused reached Bhubaneswar with the intent to commit robberies and snatching. During night patrolling, our personnel spotted them moving suspiciously near Kuakhai River in the Bankuala area. When our personnel approached them, they started firing at them. Our personnel retaliated,” DCP Jagmohan Meena said.

Sonu and Manish , who sustained bullet injuries in the exchange of fire, were admitted to Capital Hospital . “They are safe and out of danger. We are verifying their criminal antecedents,” the DCP said.

On March 9, three robbers from Bihar's Nawada district were arrested in Bhubaneswar after a brief shootout with police.
