Speaking to reporters at Cobham training ground, Maresca was asked how important it will be to take confidence from the Legia Warsaw win on Thursday night. The Chelsea boss said: "Very important.

"To be honest, I don't think we had a lack of confidence before Legia. But for sure, winning in the way we did is important for momentum."

Maresca added: "Absolutely, it will be a tough game. No doubt. In this moment, any team you face is complicated. No matter if it's Southampton, Ipswich or Leicester, because they want to show themselves and finish in the right way.

"They don't like to lose games, so it will be tough. We have seven games, all of them very difficult. The first one is Ipswich and hopefully we can get the three points."

"It's going to have to be the same on Sunday," added the Ipswich boss. "They've built a formiddable squad full of young players. They made several changes last night. We'll be facing a fit and almost full-strength Chelsea side.

"It's a Premier League season. It's hard to be at your best across 38 games. Watching some of their recent games they're still a very good side. They are certainly one of the best in the division and probably will be for years to come."
