BTS' Jin is 'Running Wild': Is there anything he can't do?

On December 13, 2022, Jin — the eldest member of BTS — bid an emotional farewell to his bandmates and fans, known as ARMY, as he enlisted for his mandatory military service. He was seen off by his six bandmates, all visibly teary-eyed. The emotions only deepened for fans as, one by one, the rest of the members enlisted too.

But time flew by, and by June 2024, Jin was finally back home. Dressed in his uniform, he walked out of his military unit and was warmly welcomed by the members. From leader RM playing the saxophone to the rest of the members embracing him with big hugs, fans couldn't have been happier.

Adding to the joy, within just 24 hours, Jin was already back on stage — meeting fans and singing once again. He's been Running Wild since June — and he's just getting started.

At the Paris Olympics

Since his return, Jin hasn't stopped moving. He sent the crowd into a frenzy in Paris when he took part in the Olympic torch relay. His striking visuals stole the spotlight, with fellow torchbearers left smiling as they watched him soak in all the attention.

Whether serving as a Gucci muse or partnering with Maison Fred, Jin Ramen, and Laneige, Jin's influence spans sports, fashion, luxury, food, and beauty. He's made notable appearances in Paris, Milan, Seoul, and New York — proof that his presence is truly global.

'Run Jin' and a surprise from Tom Cruise

One of Jin's biggest post-military hits was his YouTube variety show, Run Jin — a playful, chaotic, self-produced spin-off of the original RUN BTS. The series saw him take on a wide range of challenges, from mountain hiking to babysitting and even stunt training. What began as fan content quickly turned into a viral success.

Guests like actor Park Hyung-sik and Olympic fencer Oh Sang-uk joined the fun — but the biggest surprise came when Tom Cruise appeared in an episode to promote his movie Mission: Impossible. Cruise's team personally reached out to the show, and Jin even face-timed his mom to introduce her to the Hollywood star.

Two albums in six months 

While it may have looked like fun and games, Jin stayed rooted in his music. He released two solo albums within just six months. His first album, HAPPY, dropped in November 2024 — a bright, vintage rock-inspired ode to joy. This was quickly followed by his second album, ECHO, on May 16, 2025.

While HAPPY delivered a cheerful, upbeat sound, ECHO dived deeper into emotion and introspection, showcasing a more vulnerable and artistic side of Jin.

The #RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR: Europe, Asia, U.S. and more

Inspired by his recent guest performances with Coldplay in Seoul and Argentina, Jin announced his solo tour — RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR — kicking off this summer.

The tour will visit Asia, the U.S., and Europe, with four dates already confirmed: two in Amsterdam and two in London this August. Following in the footsteps of bandmates Suga and J-Hope, Jin is the next BTS member to take his solo act global before the group's full reunion.

Beyond K-Pop: Netflix fame and global reach

If this all wasn't enough, Jin’s charm worked as he starred in Netflix's "Kian’s Bizarre B&B", alongside comedian Ji Ye-eun under the creative vision of Kian84.

The quirky, heartfelt show earned an 8.7 IMDb rating and quickly became one of the platform's most-watched programs — helping Jin connect with viewers far beyond the usual K-pop fanbase.
