Just days following the unexpected exit of ACP Pradyuman—a character immortalized by actor Shivaji Satam—in the long-running crime drama CID, fresh reports suggest that his return is already in the works. According to The Times of India, Satam is expected to resume his role in the coming weeks, despite recent developments that hinted at the character’s demise.

Earlier, actor Parth Samthaan had announced that he would be stepping into the spotlight as a replacement for ACP Pradyuman. This stirred reactions from loyal fans, many of whom were dismayed by the decision to seemingly end the journey of such a legendary figure.

Backlash Leads To Reversal

The decision to eliminate Pradyuman's character was met with strong disapproval from viewers, who took to social media to express their discontent. Speaking to The Times of India, a source linked to the show's production confirmed, “You can’t truly retire a character like ACP Pradyuman—he’s too iconic to be written off permanently. Shivaji Satam is slated to return shortly.”

The insider further added that while Parth Samthaan has joined the cast, his role is only temporary. “In television, it’s quite routine to remove and later reintroduce characters for dramatic effect. This is nothing out of the ordinary,” the source explained, also revealing that Shivaji may resume filming as early as next week. Satam, notably, has portrayed the role since the show's inception in 1998.

How ACP Pradyuman 'Died'

In a recent episode, the CID team engaged in a high-stakes mission to apprehend the antagonist Barboza, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia. The criminal lured ACP Pradyuman into a trap that ended with a massive blast, suggesting the officer had been killed. However, no actual footage showed his final moments, leaving room for speculation.

Sony TV fueled the rumors by posting a tribute on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt image of ACP Pradyuman accompanied by the message, “In fond remembrance… a loss that can never be replaced.” The picture featured the caption: “End of an era – ACP Pradyuman (1998–2025).”

Shivaji Satam Breaks His Silence

In a recent interaction with Bombay Times, Shivaji Satam addressed the buzz surrounding his character’s fate. “I’m not really sure what’s happening,” he admitted. “I took a short break and haven’t been informed about the direction the show is taking. If this is the end of my role, I’m at peace with it. But officially, nothing has been communicated to me.”

CID’s Return After Six-Year Hiatus

The iconic series made a grand return earlier this year after being off-air since October 2018. Viewers can now catch new episodes every weekend at 10 PM on Sony Entertainment Television, Sony LIV, and Netflix, reviving nostalgia for a show that originally ran for two decades.
