Send Push
Twelve people in Puducherry have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past week, according to a press release issued on Tuesday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services.

V Ravichandran, Director of the department, said that health teams have been checking people showing symptoms like cough and cold, following guidelines from the Union Health Ministry.

He urged the public not to panic, assuring that the department is fully prepared to deal with the situation.

To manage any possible rise in cases, four hospital beds have been reserved for Covid-19 patients at the Government General Hospital, Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute in Kadirkamam, and the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital for Children.

A special six-bed ward with ventilators and oxygen support has also been set up at the Government Hospital for Chest Diseases in Gorimedu.

The Health Department is working closely with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi to keep track of the situation.

Officials are also reviewing data related to respiratory illnesses such as the common cold, Influenza-like Illness (ILI), and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).
