Send Push
Recently, Reddit India’s real estate forum r/indianrealestate became the centre of a hot topic of discussion for netizens. A Bengaluru software developer expressed his concern regarding the rise of AI and how it is impacting his dream of owning a home in Bengaluru. Writing in the post, the developer explained his concern about taking a 25-year home loan in the IT capital of India, Bengaluru.

Further, he expressed his worry about the rise of AI and the uncertainty it creates with the potential loss of jobs. With daily advancements coming up in AI, the major fear surrounds its effect on IT developers. Recently, AI has, on multiple occasions, proved to be a better coder and, in a few instances, has developed software better than manual software developers.

Dilemma regarding future
The major concern raised in the post has been the fear that AI will replace tech jobs, and then how will he be able to pay back the home loan he wants to take to buy a home in Bengaluru? The post says it will be better if he keeps living in a rental home rather than buying a home in the volatile job scene of Bengaluru because if AI takes his job, he can go back to his hometown with no strings attached. But this requires him to use his financial planning in the form of a SWP ( Systematic Withdrawal Plan ) from a mutual fund for comfortable living.

Public response
Reddit was flooded with discussions and arguments in the comment section of this post, with many raising concerns regarding the rise of AI and many advising software developers not to get involved in the trap of a home loan during uncertain times and fear of job loss. Many have raised concerns about the mental health toll it will have on you during this period while you are afraid your job will be lost.

Ray of hope
Not all comments were negative. Some are seen as a ray of hope. Some comments highlight that the fear regarding AI is nothing but exaggerated claims, and AI will definitely change the job landscape but will not take jobs entirely. It will depend upon workers and how they use AI according to their needs.

Rise of workforce anxiety
Workforce anxiety has now become a major issue among workers. With rapid development in technology and AI, fears among workers are more than ever. During this time, the lack of commitment from companies regarding their future and the use of AI in the organization has raised uncertainty among workers. This has created confusion and panic among both experienced professionals and newcomers. This post is a small example of a large problem among us.
