Navi Mumbai: To manage the anticipated large influx of people visiting Raigad Fort for the 345th Punyatithi (death anniversary) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Raigad district administration has imposed a ban on heavy and oversized vehicles along the Mumbai-Goa National Highway.
The restriction will be in place on April 12 from 12 am to 3 pm, covering the stretch from Kharpada to Kashedi, as per the directive issued by Raigad District Collector Kishan Jawale.
Thousands of citizens are expected to travel to the event in private vehicles, raising the risk of traffic congestion and road accidents along the busy route. Moreover, union Home MInister Amit Shah is also expected to come to visit Raigad fort on the same day.
To ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety, the ban excludes essential service vehicles transporting milk, fuel, LPG, medicines, vegetables, oxygen, as well as ambulances, police vehicles, fire brigades, and those engaged in the Women Empowerment Campaign.
Authorities have also announced a temporary ban on the use of drones and other aerial devices in the vicinity of Shah’s visit sites to ensure tight security.
Shah is expected to attend events commemorating the death anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. As part of his tour, he will visit the historic Raigad Fort and Sutarwadi, both significant locations in Raigad district. The restriction on aerial devices will be in effect between 7 am and 4pm on Saturday.
