Mumbai: As part of the investigation into the Mithi River cleaning scam, Bollywood actor Dino Morea and his brother Santino Morea appeared before the Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for a second round of questioning on Wednesday. Morea arrived at the EOW office at 1 pm and underwent nearly six hours of interrogation.
According to EOW officials, there are financial links between Dino Morea and arrested accused Ketan Kadam, with around 8 to 10 suspicious bank transactions between them, dating from 2018 to 2022, amounting to approximately Rs 14 to 18 lakh. Investigators believe that some of the funds Kadam received from contractors were allegedly transferred to Dino Morea’s bank account.
Officials further revealed that Dino and Ketan Kadam have known each other for nearly 25 years, and their long-standing relationship is under scrutiny. Additionally, sources stated that the registered address of Woder India LLP and UBO Ridez Pvt. Ltd. — a firm co-founded by Kadam’s wife and Santino Morea in 2020 — is the same, raising eyebrows.
While UBO Ridez Pvt. Ltd. was officially set up as an electric buggy service during the COVID-19 lockdown, investigators allege it was misrepresented as a pipeline business to facilitate suspicious money transfers.
During Wednesday’s session, Dino and Santino submitted company documents and bank transaction details to the EOW. These documents will be examined in detail. Sources confirmed that over 20 bank accounts are under forensic scrutiny, and forensic auditors are expected to be appointed soon. The EOW will also probe whether the Rs 14–18 lakh received in Dino Morea’s account was a commission linked to the alleged scam.
Earlier this week, on Monday, Dino and Santino Morea were interrogated for nearly six hours at the EOW office in connection with the same case.
The EOW has also confirmed that some BMC officials have been questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
