Singrauli (Madhya Pradesh): Radio Urja FM 89.6, the only community radio station in Singrauli district, has been selected as a semifinalist for the prestigious WAVES-2025 Community Radio Content Challenge under the "Public Health & Safety" category.
The national competition organized by the Ministry of Information and broadcasting, saw participation from community radio stations across India.
Radio Urja earned its spot representing the Central Zone and will now compete at the WAVES 2025 event, set to be held in Mumbai, from May 1 to 4. Radio Urja’s impactful programs like “Health is Essential”, supported by NCL (Northern Coalfields Limited) CSR, and played a major role in this recognition.
The program provides critical health information to the community and assists in identifying and transporting seriously ill individuals to NCL’s NSC Hospital through narrowcasting.
Additionally, the station’s “Awake Singrauli” initiative has raised public awareness on traffic rules, cybercrime, and financial frauds in collaboration with local police, banks, and the traffic department.
Director S.D. Garg stated, “Radio Urja FM 89.6 is more than a station it’s a community movement.” With the slogan “Urjadhani, Aapki Vaani!”, the station continues its journey toward national recognition.
