Jaipur: It was a day of accidents for school-going children in Rajasthan, as two have been killed and 20 injured in different parts of the state, while 15 got dehydrated at the state-level ceremony of Independence Day at Jodhpur.
In a tragic incident in Pathar Padi village of Kotda block of Udaipur, a 12-year-old girl was killed and one injured as the balcony of an under-construction school building collapsed.
Kotda police station officer Mughala Ram said that the deceased had come to her grandmother's house and was passing near the school building on Friday morning, when suddenly the balcony collapsed. The girl was buried under the debris and died on the spot.
While in Jodhpur, a student was killed in a road accident when his bike slipped on the road and he was hit by a truck coming from behind. The student died on the spot while three others got seriously injured.

The family has lodged an FIR against the truck driver who fled away from the spot.
Five students were injured as the false ceiling of the recently constructed hall of a private school suddenly collapsed during the Independence Day celebration in Bundi. The hall was inaugurated just 12 days ago on August 3.
As per the reports, the incident happened when the students were enjoying the Independence Day program. Suddenly a large part of the false ceiling on the roof collapsed, causing debris to fall on the children.
The children injured in the accident were rushed to the district hospital. According to the hospital administration, all the children have been sent home after first aid, but three of them have suffered head injuries.
As many as 11 children were injured as their school van overturned in Sangod near Kota. The police said that the van was heading towards a nearby village to drop the children when an overspeeding car hit the van. The driver of the van and 11 children suffered injuries. Five of them have been referred to Kota.

The locals said that there were no adequate arrangements for drinking water despite the hot weather conditions.
