Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): After ban on liquor sale in the city and closure of shops and beer bars, liquor lovers are now looking for new ways. Neelganga police have arrested a youth drinking liquor while sitting in an auto and has also confiscated his auto.
Police said that 27-year-old Rajesh, resident of Lakshmi Colony, Mahidpur drives an auto-rickshaw. On Thursday night, a police team was checking on Badnagar bypass, during which he was caught drinking liquor while sitting in an auto. His auto has been confiscated and a case has been registered against him under Excise Act.
Similarly, Chimanganj police caught two people from Makodiyaam Naka, Dargah Mandi, Kharakuan police station caught one person from Chhatri Chowk and Nanakheda police caught one person each from Nanakheda bus stand and village Dendia drinking liquor in a public place.
Rs 19K fine on youth for drunk driving
Tarana police had arrested a bike rider on March 31, who was going from Maksi to Shajapur in AB Road, village Banjari, who was drunk and was unable to ride properly. He was stopped with wisdom and asked his name and address. He said his name is Deepak (24), and a resident of Tugni police station Makdon, district Ujjain.
The police team conducted a medical examination of the applicant. In the medical report, the doctor mentioned that the applicant was drinking alcohol. A case was registered against the applicant for drunk driving under Section 185 of Motor Vehicles Act. The accused was produced in court, where he was fined Rs 19k.
