Emmerdale favourite's return 'sealed' after 18 years and he 'won't be alone'

There could be a huge return for one character after 18 years, if a new fan theory is to be believed.

Following the news Eric Pollard would be selling up his shop, or at least he planned to, fans began wondering who might take over. Viewers are suspecting a past character might make a comeback as part of the plot, and may take over as the new owner.

Not only that but some fans wondered if said character, if they return, could head to the village with a family and won't be alone. A new theory has suggested Scott Windsor could make a comeback to the soap, 18 years on from his exit.

There has been a number of mentions of him or hints of a return recently, with his relatives still in the village. His sister Cathy Hope went to stay with him, and there were mentions of him around this.

Viewers were left wondering at the time whether the soap was building towards a comeback for the character. Now, the new theory is that Scott will in fact go back to the village for good, and take over the shop.

The theory questions whether Scott and his new family, if he has one, will move to the village to be around Cathy and his niece April Windsor. April is going through a tough time at the moment, so might her uncle head back to the show to support her?

One viewer said online: "Scott returns and buys it." Another fan said: "Scott would be such a good shout, finally get some of the Windsors back and maybe a new family with him."

Another fan wondered if it would be taken over by a new character or new family completely with no returns. The theory read: "Maybe a new character comes in to take over the shop?

"They’ve gotten rid of quite a few cast members recently. I’m not sure who I can see currently in the village who would take it over. But I agree it should be utilised more for the gossip."

A further post echoed this, and read: "It would be a great way to introduce a new family. They're running out of villagers who haven't gone out with, had affairs with, married or divorced one another in the current cast."

Other fans were sure it would be an existing character who takes over from Eric, that is if he even sells it. He wants to sell up to raise the funds to pay back Brenda Walker, after he lost her life savings.

Some theories suggested Manpreet Sharma or Claudette Anderson might take over, as others thought it could be couple Gabby Thomas and Vinny Dingle teaming up and going into business together, if not Kim Tate.
