Among these upcoming titles is Little Nightmares 3, marking the third chapter in the horror adventure series.
Little Nightmares 3 centres on two fresh protagonists, Low and Alone, who journey across an enigmatic realm known as "the Nowhere". The game marks a significant shift as it becomes the first Little Nightmares title not created by Tarsier Studios, with development duties instead passing to Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn and the Dark Pictures Anthology.
The franchise has captured hearts through its compelling gameplayand intriguing character roster. However, eager fans anticipating the latest release have just discovered something startling about some of the series' most cherished recurring figures expected to return in the upcoming game.

Among the few characters appearing consistently across the franchise are the Gnomes. These diminutive beings are portrayed as humanoid creatures sporting pointed hats that completely conceal their faces, leaving only the headwear and their bodies visible.
Locating these Gnomes serves as a collectable element in the original game, allowing players to embrace each one in a heartwarming moment.
But these beings harbour a sinister truth - every single one of them was once a human child.
In the first game's downloadable content (DLC), players take on the role of a child known as The Runaway Kid. It is later unveiled that he was transformed into a Gnome after encountering The Lady, the primary antagonist of the initial game.
One fan speculated in a Reddit post: "I think the Gnomes are acutely children who somehow evolved to be gnome-like creatures. They have child-like shadows in the Hideaway DLC, but nobody noticed, but I did."
Reddit users agreed with the poster's theory and confirmed it was indeed validated in the DLC, advising the poster to complete the game before making assumptions.
One individual commented: "For your own good, you have got to finish the games before coming to this Subreddit."
Another added: "Gnomes are remnants. Echoes of what was and nothing more."
It remains uncertain whether the Gnomes will make a comeback in Little Nightmares 3, as they were specifically associated with The Lady in the first game. However, due to their popularity among fans, it is anticipated that they'll make a cameo appearance.
In another Reddit discussion about the potential appearance of the Gnomes in the forthcoming game, one person expressed: "I hope so. Without the DLC, they were sorely missing in Little Nightmares II."
Another added: "I'm pretty sure I saw one in one of the Little Nightmares 3 trailers."
Little Nightmares 3 is set to launch on October 10 for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and PC.
