Ruben Amorim insists there is "nothing I can say" to after his errors saw leave Lyon with a draw in their clash - but underlined his confidence in the goalkeeper. The French side scored their equaliser in the fifth minute of stoppage time .
It was a night to forget for the Cameroonian as he struggled to deal with a cross into the box, only palming the ball into his own net as Lyon took the lead. Then, with the visitors looking set to take a lead back to Manchester, he could only push a shot out into the danger zone, which saw Rayan Cherki pounce.
Onana has been error-strewn since moving to the club last summer and this year he's continued to make errors that have led directly to goals.
Amorim insists he will not go and sit down with his goalkeeper, instead he will remain natural, knowing that there were no words that could help the No 1. Instead he claimed he would "choose the best 11" when it came to it with United facing this weekend.
He said: “We have training, go with Vital and we deal with that. So I'm really natural that can happen with any player. There's nothing I can say to Andre in this moment that will help him. So the most important thing is to be natural. And then when the time comes, I will choose the best 11 to play. But I'm really confident in Andre.”

Onana has remained the undisputed No 1 in Manchester despite some shaky displays that have cost United. He was signed to replace David de Gea when Erik ten Hag was in charge and Amorim has inherited the ex-Inter Milan goalkeeper.
He added: "The best thing is to look at the goals and all the actions that Andre has had in the game and to talk with [goalkeeper coaches Jorge] Vital and Craig [Mawson]. This is the best way to help any player - to focus on the game, what happened, what we need to improve and then put the player [in] again.”

In the lead-up to the Europa League clash Onana found himself in a war of words with ex-United star Nemanja Matic. The goalkeeper had said that the Red Devils were a better team that Lyon, only for the Serbian to hit back and label Onana as one of the club's worst shotstoppers.
He said: “I respect everyone but to say that then you need to get the answer. If you are one of the worst goalkeepers in Man United’s history you need to take care what you are talking.”
