Stephen Graham's 'twisted' thriller after Netflix hit gets exciting update but with a catch

Stephen Graham’s next must-watch project has received an update - but unfortunately fans still have a bit of a wait in store.

The acclaimed Boiling Point star’s latest series Adolescence is still considered one of the best new dramas of the year after its release on Netflix back in March.

Co-written by Graham and Jack Thorne, the four-part series filmed in single takes follows a family who are torn apart when 13-year-old Jamie (played by Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of his female classmate.

After Adolescence quickly ranked amongst Netflix’s most-watched shows of the year in almost 100 countries, countless fans were left eager to see what Graham will do next.

He’ll soon be heading to the big screen, starring alongside The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White in musical biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.

However, before this potential Oscar-contender hits cinemas in October, his smaller thriller film Good Boy is set to premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which is scheduled to take place between 4-14th September.

Also starring Andrea Riseborough, who featured in Matilda the Musical with Graham, and MobLand’s Anson Boon, the film is described as a "twisted" story of "freedom and identity".

Unfortunately, Good Boy’s TIFF premiere means that film fans unable to make it to Toronto this year may have to wait until next year before it’s released to the public as it doesn’t have an official wide release date.

In this unique British thriller, Boon will portray a 19-year-old gang leader named Tommy who forces his friends to commit acts of violence.

Tommy’s life is soon upended when Graham’s character Chris kidnaps him and, along with his wife Kathryn (played by Riseborough), uses bizarre methods to make him atone for his sins.

Polish filmmaker Jan Komasa is directing from a screenplay by Bartek Bartosik and Naqqash Khalid.

Fans who can’t wait for Graham’s next highly-anticipated film role shouldn’t fret as he has plenty of projects available for streaming right now as well as upcoming releases to look forward to.

Streamers who raved about Adolescence should be sure to check out the star’s historical boxing drama A Thousand Blows on Disney+, which also features his co-star Erin Doherty.

He’s also set to star alongside Cillian Murphy in Steve Knight’s long-awaited Peaky Blinders follow-up, The Immortal Man, which is also set to be released on Netflix.
