UK weather: Major storm forecast as 'Beast from Europe' will miss just 2 places

A major storm is set to batter the country and bring an end , with only two areas of the UK set to avoid the , wind and rain.

, , and are all expected to be impacted by the rough conditions, which will bowl into the middle of the month. Concerning maps from WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, show how come Tuesday, April 15, conditions will become considerably wetter thanks to a brewing over mainland Europe. The vast majority of the UK will be hit by heavy rain with several millimetres feared to fall come midday.

In England, major cities up and down the country - including capital , , , and Newcastle - will be hit. The first map shows it arriving from the south west of the country with the heaviest rain falling at first over Plymouth and Birmingham in the Midlands, with as much as 5mm falling at around noon.

Come 6pm the horrendous conditions will have moved north with the brunt being felt in the north of England and further north into and in Belfast in Northern Ireland. Wales and the South East will also continue to have rain, although less than earlier in the day.

By midnight on Wednesday, April 16, only Scotland will continue to have the worst of the storm. The only places to avoid the heaviest of the rain throughout this period are Northern Ireland and East Anglia.

The ’s long range forecast for the period reads: “Most areas will be dry and sunny with light winds at first as high pressure extends across much of the UK. However, it will be cloudier and breezier in parts of the far north with some light rain or drizzle at times.

“Temperatures will be above normal away from windward coasts. A gradual change to a more unsettled regime is likely thereafter, with Atlantic frontal systems from the west or showers from the south making inroads across the UK.

“This is expected to herald a wetter period through the middle of April with showers or longer spells of rain at times, which could be heavy and thundery in places. Strong winds could develop in some areas, particularly the south and west. Temperatures are likely to return closer to normal.”

Weather's forecast for April 14 to 20 states: "Towards and beyond the middle of April, the long-range weather forecast models continue to differ. Some continue to show a persistent high pressure signal over the far north and north-west of Europe with an ongoing colder risk. In view of this, a mostly drier and calmer trend could prevail. Temperatures might be slightly above average but could still drop below average at times, bringing a slight risk of overnight frosts.

"A number of long-term forecast models are sticking with a stronger low-pressure signal in the eastern North Atlantic or close to the UK, which would point to above average temperatures. As a result, rather wet and windy conditions may return and possibly persist during this week."
