BBC fans have fumed on social media minutes into the latest episode of The Great British Sewing Bee. At the start of episode four, the contestants found out it was Korean Week and were given a handful of sewing challenges to put them to the test. However, fans were less than impressed with one particular thing. One person said on X: "Just STOP with the spoilers at the start of the programme! Ruins it. #SewingBee."
A second person also commented similarly: "Every week (and series), lots of people moan about that-including myself. You'd think they would take a bit of notice of what their audience wants." A third also chimed in: "#SewingBee, I think I'm going to start looking the other way when the preview episode is one before the actual show. The transformation challenge just got ruined for me."
One of the first tasks was The Pattern Challenge, involving the beautiful version of the jeogori, a garment rich in cultural significance in Korea that's been around for centuries. Guest judge Eudon Choi attended alongside host Sara Pascoe and presenters Esme Young and Patrick Grant.
In the Transformation Challenge, taekwondo outfits and colourful belts were reimagined into fascinating new creations. Lastly, in the Made to Measure Challenge, the sewers designed evening wear inspired by the cheollik.
Prior to the episode, one person said on X: "I'm so excited for this episode. Really enjoyed the previous Japan, West Africa and India weeks, as I love learning about different fashions and techniques. #SewingBee."
In the end, Caz really stood out from the crowd as she was awarded Garment of the Week. However, it was the end of the road for one contestant who didn't quite live up to the judges' expectations.
It was time to say goodbye to 66-year-old Novello, the latest contestant to leave the show. Speaking about her exit, she said, "I've experienced sewing all my life. But this experience has blown it out of the water, really. It's just something that I will remember and treasure always."
Esme said: "It's sad to see Novello go home, because she's been so much fun. But she didn't have a good week this week."
Speaking about winning Garment of the Week, Caz said: "I'm absolutely gobsmacked. Blown away. Quite emotional." Guest judge Eudon Choi said: "Huge respect to them, especially under pressure."
The Great British Sewing Bee airs on Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One.
