One of the joys of living in the United Kingdom is that we have no shortage of holiday destinations on our doorstep. Outside of the beautifuldomestic destinations, there are plenty of places to visit that are just a short flight away.
One of these places is Greece - and recently, Greece has been proving popular not just with young travellers looking to see the world, but also older people who are on the hunt for a relaxing getaway. The best thing to look out for if you want to travel as an older person is accessibility. Places with direct flights are better, as travel is more convenient and faster.

It's also good to check accessibility - places with lots of steep hills or cobbled pavements may not be as easy to travel through.
Also, watch out for the availability of cars and taxis - if you don't drive, it's good to check you can easily get around.
According to the Santorini Secrets blog, Corfu is one of these places. Corfu has direct flights daily from all over Europe and the UK. It's a popular place for pensioners to buy property and travel there to relax.
Corfu also has gorgeous sandy beaches that are easy to access - perfect for older people.
Santorini Secrets writes: "Corfu's old town, with its Venetian architecture and alleys, is one of the cutest in Greece, with lots of excellent restaurants.
"There is no shortage of excellent sandy beaches with very easy access for older people, with lots of amenities and even hotels if you prefer to stay by the beach."
Places like Santorini and Mykonos, while beautiful, are not as good for older Brits as they are full of steep, cobbled and winding paths which can be difficult to navigate with mobility issues.
They are also frequently overrun with tourists and can be overwhelming rather than calming. Both these islands also have the reputation of being more 'party islands' - so they can be rowdy.
If you want to take a trip to Corfu for some autumn sunshine, you're in luck.
This Greek island enjoys mild weather most of the year with October temperatures rarely dropping below 24C - perfectly warm but not so hot that you can't enjoy it.
