Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco lands role in 'suspenseful' thriller opposite major star

The Big Bang Theory fans were presented with some exciting news when it was announced Penny star Kaley Cuoco was working on a new project, Vanished. The series stars some huge names like Peaky Blinders' Sam Claflin.

Vanished will air on Prime Video next year in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Other names attached to the project include German actor Matthias Schweighöfer, Casino Royale star Simon Abkarian and Corduroy's Dar Zuzovsky.

Kaley Cuoco will play Alice, and when a romantic getaway to Paris takes a dark turn, she is thrown into a web of intrigue and danger. Her boyfriend Tom (Claflin) suddenly disappears and Alice ends up uncovering secrets about the man she thought she knew.

The series is being created by David Hilton and Preston Thompson. Tushar Jindal, Head of Content Acquisitions for Prime Video UK, said of Vanished: "With Kaley and Sam leading an incredible cast, this gripping thriller will keep viewers guessing at every turn.

"We can't wait for audiences to be swept up in the mystery." Cuoco, 39, starred in The Big Bang Theory until its conclusion in 2019.

She is also known for her roles in 8 Simple Rules, The Flight Attendant and Charmed.

The star is in a relationship with actor Tom Pelphrey and they have a daughter, Matilda, who was born in 2023.

Besides acting, she has launched a pet product business called Oh Norman!

As for Peaky Blinders star Claflin, the 38-year-old actor is also known for his roles in The Hunger Games, Me Before You and Daisy Jones & the Six.

Prime Video has confirmed the start of production on Vanished in Marseille, France, and it will be a four-part series.

Cuoco, best known for her role as Penny in Big Bang Theory, initially felt "in a state of shock" by the news it was ending.

On the moment Jim Parsons announced he did not think he could continue the series, Cuoco said: "I was so shocked that I was literally like, 'Continue on with what?'

"Like, I didn't even know what he was talking about. I looked at Chuck: 'Wow. I thought we were - I'm so blown away right now,'" she told Variety.
