While the Royal Family are currently enjoying their summer holidays, they are just weeks away from one of the biggest events on the 2025 royal calendar. In just a matter of weeks, King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 78, will welcome the US President and First Lady for a UK state visit.

The state visit, which will take place in September, will see Donald and Melania Trump spend time with the royals. With pomp and pageantry set to take place, just like the state visit held for the French President earlier this year, it is set to be a royal occasion to remember.

Here at Express.co.uk, we have explained everything you need to know about the upcoming state visit...

Donald Trump and his wife, and First Lady, Melania Trump will be in the UK on the state visit from September 17 until September 19.

These dates were confirmed by Buckingham Palace in July.

It is not yet known what events will take place on what day, however it is likely the US President will be greeted by a ceremonial welcome in Windsor.

Both the King and Queen, and Trump and his wife, are believed to be excited for the state visit, with the couples known to get on well.

Donald Trump's upcoming state visit next month may come as a surprise as he previously had one during his first time as US President in 2019.

On this occasion, Trump, 79, was hosted by Queen Elizabeth II.

This time, Trump was invited by King Charles for the state visit, with the pair believed to get on well.

It is also rumoured that the state visit may have been suggested to keep the special relationship between the US and the UK as strong as possible.

Like with the French state visit earlier this year, this state visit will be held at Windsor Castle rather than the usual grand location of Buckingham Palace.

This is because major refurbishment is taking place at the Palace as part of ongoing renovation works.

It was confirmed late last year that state visits will not be held at Buckingham Palace for three years as a result of the works.

Although the schedule of events for the state visit is yet to be confirmed, there are some events royal fans will know and love that are likely to take place. This includes a ceremonial welcome, which is likely to take place not far from Windsor Castle, and a viewing of Royal Collection exhibits.

Each state visit usually also comes with a state banquet, attended by a number of senior royals, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Kate.

It is likely Trump may also meet with the Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the state visit.

Due to the timing of Trump's state visit, the US President will not speak at Westminster as Parliament will still be in recess.
