A section of the M5 was shut this morning after a huge crash, with six miles of traffic and hour-long delays during the morning rush hour. The closure is impacting the southbound stretch of the motorway between Junction 16 and Junction 17.
National Highways said in a statement on X: "All lanes have now re-opened on the #M5 southbound between J16 and J17 near #Almondsbury #Bristol. A 52 minute delay and 6 miles of congestion remains in the area but should now start to ease. Thanks for your patience this morning."
Another section of the M5 is currently experiencing delays of 1.5 hours and queues stretching seven miles. All lanes have re-opened following an incident on the M5 southbound in Worcestershire between J4a and J5, though there are still queues.
