Non-fat and lactose-free milk generally has the longest shelf life, remaining for 7-10 days beyond the printed date when properly refrigerated.
Once opened, milk can last for a week or two without curdling, but a simple hack can extend its life even further.
Experts from said: "Adding a pinch of salt to the carton and shaking it to distribute the salt evenly can help.
"Salt minerals slow the souring of milk by drawing out water molecules, which lowers water activity and, in turn, inhibits bacterial growth."
Apart from this, there are many other strategies that one can use to extend the shelf life of the milk.
Experts suggest picking up the milk with the longest shelf life. It's nice to check the dates on the cartons and select the one with the furthest expiration date.

The experts added: "Dairy products should ideally be stored at the back of the fridge, as the front and door are exposed to warmer air each time the door is opened.
"It's best not to let it sit on the counter for too long."
