Scunthorpe's second National League fixture was abandoned within the same week after a seriously injured player was stretchered off and rushed to hospital. The Iron's Saturday clash against Wealdstone was halted deep into the second half following a concerning injury to Daniel Nkrumah.

The 21-year-old Wealdstone striker fell to the floor in the 85th minute following a collision inside the home side's penalty box. The referee initially added 11 minutes of stoppage time as the match reached 90 minutes, but after a further 13 minutes had elapsed, the player was still receiving treatment on the turf. He was eventually carried off to applause from supporters of both clubs.

Officials then decided against restarting the match.

In a series of messages on X, Wealdstone announced: "Daniel Nkrumah has been safely stretchered off the field. We wish Daniel all the best in his recovery and will provide further updates when we have them.

"We can confirm that today's fixture between Wealdstone and Scunthorpe United has been abandoned following a lengthy suspension whilst Daniel Nkrumah received medical treatment.

"Daniel Nkrumah is now in hospital and stable. Thank you to the medical staff at Scunthorpe United and the paramedics for their support."

Scunthorpe, who were ahead 2-1 when proceedings were halted, also confirmed on X that the match had been abandoned.

They stated: "Bizarre ending to proceedings, with the game abandoned, and to be referred to the Enterprise National League."

Enzio Boldewijn initially put the visitors in the lead, but Alfie Beestin and Danny Whitehall turned the tables to give Scunthorpe the advantage.

This follows a dramatic incident at Scunthorpe's away match against Eastleigh, which was called off during stoppage time on Tuesday due to a severe collision between two players.

The match was level at 1-1 when a horrifying head-on collision occurred between Eastleigh's Archie Harris and Scunthorpe's Jean Belehouan in extra time, necessitating immediate medical attention on the pitch.

The referee ordered both teams back to the changing rooms while medical staff attended to the injured players. Scunthorpe confirmed that Belehouan was conscious and was moved off the pitch in a wheelchair.

The club later issued an update stating: "Jean Belehouan has returned to the dressing room following treatment and will continue to be assessed and monitored. At this stage, JB appears to be responding well to testing. As soon as there are any other updates we will update."

Eastleigh subsequently confirmed that Harris was on the mend, stating: "Eastleigh Football Club can confirm that Archie Harris has been admitted to hospital and is conscious and talking. We will provide further updates to supporters in due course. We're all with you Archie."
