has picked up a calf injury which could sideline him for the rest of the season, Ruben Amorim has confirmed. Dalot has been almost ever-present for Manchester United this campaign, starting all bar two of their games and appearing in all bar one.

The right-back had to make do with a spot on the bench for the 1-0 defeat at home to on Sunday, with Patrick Dorgu starting in his place. It appears as though the high volume of games Dalot has played this season - 51 in total at club level alone - has finally taken a toll.

Ahead of Sunday's trip to Bournemouth, Amorim revealed: "Diogo Dalot is out. We don't know how long he is going to be out but he is out for these next games. There is a possibility [he will miss the rest of the season] but we will see week by week.

"He has something in his calf muscle. He had a sequence of games he played all the time. We tried to manage [it] but we had to protect the players and Dalot felt something."

Dalot joins a handful of other first-team defenders in the treatment room. Lisandro Martinez is out for the rest of the season and Ayden Heaven is 'not ready' to return, but Amorim claims that is 'near'.

The same goes for Amad Diallo, who has made a from an ankle injury which threatened to see him miss the latter part of the campaign. Joshua Zirkzee, meanwhile, will play no part in the run-in after damaging his hamstring.

With United too far back to qualify for Europe via the traditional route, and too far above the drop zone to be relegated, Amorim's options for the upcoming trip to Bournemouth are of secondary importance to the players he can call upon for next week's clash with Athletic Club.

The Red Devils travel to Bilbao for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final, knowing a win in the tournament would catapult them straight into the Champions League and boost their chances of attracting top talent this summer.

One of the players linked is Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, but Amorim refused to give anything away. He stated: "I will not say anything about Matheus because if I say one time I will have to comment on every situation. I am focused on this season and the next few games could change our plan for next season."
