A has unveiled a new crossover that offers similar styling to a for a similar price to an or Skoda Elroq. Unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show, the will be the , with an estimated starting price of around £30,000.
However, the model differs from the current in having much , helping to make the front end look considerably more aggressive. The headlights and front air intakes are both mounted within large triangle-shaped clusters at the side of the bumper, whereas the long bonnet features two sharp ridges and 'OMODA' lettering. The aggressive styling continues at the side of the vehicle, with a sharp crease running from the front bumper to the rear tail lights, which feature a sharp 90-degree angle and particularly flat wheel arches.
While the Chery-owned company has yet to share any information on the Omoda 3's interior, the brand's youthful image suggests that it will likely feature plenty of technology as standard.
The brand has noted that the model will feature a 'starship cockpit '- style dashboard, including a large portrait touchscreen similar to that in a Mercedes EQS.
In addition to smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, owners will also be able to connect their Nintendo Switch to the touchscreen in order to play video games during times in which the vehicle is stationary, such as during charging.
Despite being the company's entry-level model when it goes on sale in the UK, the Omoda 3 spans a surprising 4,420mm in length - around 120mm more than the MG4 and 50mm more than the Omoda 5.
Whilst this will likely help to give the Omoda 3 more legroom and boot space, the increased length is part of the company's plans to produce larger vehicles, with the next generation of the 5 SUV due to grow in size.
The Omoda 3 is due to go on sale in October 2026, with drivers being able to choose from a range of petrol, plug-in hybrid, and fully-electric powertrains.
2025 is already shaping up to be an interesting year for Omoda, with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) recording 3,194 sales during the first three months of the year.
Their partner company Jaecoo, who offer the 7 SUV, sold a further 3,235 models in the same period, meaning that the two sub-brands outsold the likes of Citroen, Fiat, and Lexus during the first quarter of 2025.
One reason why the two Chery-owned car brands have seen a rapid increase in sales is likely due to their rapidly expanding dealership network, with plans to have 120 by the end of the year.
