Waqf bill historic step towards social justice: CM

Raipur: Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed the Waqf Amendment Bill passed in both Houses of Parliament as a historic move to ensure transparency, accountability, and social justice. He said the detailed discussion on the bill reflects the maturity of India's parliamentary democracy.

The CM emphasised that the bill will bring clarity in the management of Waqf properties and resolve longstanding ambiguities between Waqf and govt-owned land. Granting survey rights to district collectors will help in faster resolution of land disputes, he added. He clarified that the bill does not interfere in religious matters but aims to bring administrative reform and judicial transparency.

Praising the provision that restricts the creation of Waqf properties in areas under the Fifth and Sixth Schedule, Sai said this will protect tribal lands from encroachments and safeguard tribal culture. He also highlighted that the bill mandates that only Muslim members will be part of the Waqf Board.

Taking a dig at the Congress and opposition, CM Sai accused them of misleading the Muslim community, calling their stance unfortunate and condemnable. He asserted that the bill is not against any religion but strengthens the principles of justice and equality.
