The Marvel fandom is in a frenzy after a mysterious TikTok user posted alleged behind-the-scenes footage from 'Avengers: Doomsday' the upcoming epic directed by the Russo Brothers. The clip which was first uploaded by a user with the cryptic handle @TheyNeverSawItComing, claimed to be a sneaky glimpse into the film’s London-based set. While the original TikTok was quickly removed, the damage or delight, depending on your fandom level had already been done. The clip spread rapidly across Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), sparking a tidal wave of theories, speculation and digital sleuthing.

Madripoor returns: Marvel’s underworld may be back

Among the biggest bombshells in the leaked video was a set that appeared to resemble Madripoor, the infamous criminal haven introduced in 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.' Known for its seedy underbelly and lawless atmosphere, Madripoor is deeply tied to Sharon Carter’s alter ego, the Power Broker and even more interestingly, to the X-Men universe.

Fans online wasted no time diving into speculation. One X user commented, “If Madripoor is in this movie, does that mean we’re finally getting closure on Sharon Carter and the Power Broker? Or… Wolverine?” The location’s ties to the mutant world fueled hopes that the long-awaited X-Men introduction into the MCU may be underway.

Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom?

The studio has already set the internet ablaze with the reveal that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise not as Iron Man, but as Victor Von Doom. The film started shooting in March 2025 and is locked in for a May 1, 2026, release date. While the studio has remained tight-lipped, fans believe this casting twist alone signals a radically new direction for the franchise.

Was the “leak” real or a master plan?

While the set video’s content thrilled many, a number of fans questioned whether this was a genuine leak or an intentional PR move. As reported by multiple fan accounts and outlets, including The Direct, some believe the entire thing might be a clever marketing stunt. One user noted, “It’s all too perfect — the username, the timing, the fact Disney hasn’t nuked the internet yet? This is Marvel-level mischief.”

Another fan joked, “This is either the best leak ever or the most calculated fake tease in MCU history.”
