Kettering Health , a major healthcare provider in the region, confirmed Tuesday morning that a cyberattack caused a system-wide technology outage, impacting thousands of patients and employees across its facilities. The organization identified the issue as resulting from "unauthorized access" to its network and is working with a third-party cybersecurity firm to address the attack and restore systems.
The outage has disrupted operations at Kettering Health’s medical centers, though physician office visits remain unaffected. Elective inpatient and outpatient procedures have been canceled and will be rescheduled, with care teams reaching out to affected patients. Emergency rooms and clinics continue to operate, ensuring critical care remains available. However, the organization’s call center is also offline due to the attack.

Local emergency services, including Harrison Township and the Miami Valley Fire District (MVFD), are diverting patients to other hospitals, such as those in the Premier Health Network, until Kettering Health restores full operations. “We’re giving them time to handle this internally,” said Harrison Township Fire Chief Mike Christ. “We’ll resume transports when they’re ready.”

Callers posing as Kettering Health representatives have requested credit card information for medical expenses. Patients receiving suspicious calls are urged to report them to local law enforcement. Kettering Health reiterated its commitment to patient safety and system recovery as it navigates this crisis.
