Chief justice of India Justice Sanjiv Khanna offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara at the Tirumala temple on Sunday.
As this was Justice Sanjiv Khanna’s maiden visit to the Tirumala temple in the capacity as the CJI, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams priests and officials led by EO J Syamala Rao and Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary extended the traditional “Isthikapal” welcome along with temple honours on his arrival at the Mahadwaram of the main temple.
After being led into the sanctum sanctorum, CJI Sanjiv Khanna offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara Swamy for a brief while and the temple priests explained him about the “Sthalapuranam”.
After Darshan, the CJI was presented with the Sesha Vastram of Lord Balaji and Veda pundits rendered Vendasirvachanam at the Ranganayakula Mandapam inside the main temple. TTD EO presented the temples prasadams and a photo momento of Lord Venkateswara to the CJI.
Earlier on Saturday evening, the CJI worshipped at the Padmavathi Ammavari temple at Tiruchanoor. Tirupati district police wing made foolproof security arrangements for CJI’s 2-day visit to the temple city, which concluded on Sunday.
