In a unique and heartfelt gesture rooted in tradition, a man from Hassan organized a ‘Seemantha Shastra’ (baby shower ritual) for his pregnant Hallikar breed cow, spending around Rs 1.3 lakh on the ceremony.
Dinesh, the owner of Gomati Kalyana Mantapa in Channapatna Layout, held the event at a wedding hall, decorated the cow and performed the rituals in a traditional manner. Over 500 guests attended the celebration. Festive dishes like sambar rice, sweet pongal, two varieties of vegetable curry, and masala roti were prepared for the event.
A native of Hachagoudanahalli in Hassan taluk, Dinesh comes from a farming family and has a deep affection for domestic animals, especially cattle. Speaking to the media, he said, “The Hallikar is our native breed, and it’s our duty to preserve it. This event was held to raise awareness and show reverence for our traditional livestock.”
