Prayagraj: As part of the nationwide Amrit Bharat Station scheme, the railway administration is undertaking large-scale redevelopment of railway stations to enhance infrastructure, passenger amenities and regional representation. In the Prayagraj Division of the North Central Railways (NCR) alone, 15 stations are earmarked for transformation.

The stations selected for redevelopment include Sonbhadra, Firozabad, Govindpuri, Kanpur Anwarganj, Khurja, Mainpuri, Mirzapur, Manikpur, Shikohabad, Chunar, Vindhyachal, Etawah, Panki Dham, Fatehpur, and Tundla. In a unique move towards public participation, Indian Railways is inviting suggestions from citizens to shape the future of their local stations.

Through the dedicated link titled ‘Suggest, how should your station be' on the official website www.indianrailways.gov.in, people can submit ideas and preferences for station development The initiative, developed by the Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) under instructions from the Ministry of Railways, enables users to submit opinions on a range of design and infrastructure aspects—such as making the station a city centre, advanced access roads, city connectivity from both sides, waiting room design, station aesthetics rooted in historical or regional themes, and passenger-friendly features including those for women, children, and Divyangjan (differently-abled persons).

Users can also upload audio, video, or documents to support their suggestions. To participate, citizens must fill in basic details including name, address, occupation, contact number, and email. "This collaborative approach aims to make railway stations more reflective of the communities they serve—both functionally and culturally," informed Public Relations Officer, Prayagraj Division, Amit Kumar Singh.
